Coronovirus Guide for Children

We recognise that the current situation will be worrying for many children. The guide below might be useful to help you talk to your child, supporting you to give enough information and help them feel more comfortable.

Coronavirus symptoms
The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:
  • new continuous cough and/or
  • high temperature
  • loss or change of your sense of smell or taste

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

Please see the NHS website below, if you are concerned about possible coronavirus symptoms.

What to do if you or a member of your household has COVID symptoms

Public Health England has published guidance on what to do if a member of your household displays COVID symptoms. Please click below and follow the guidance.

Communicating to school a positive COVID test result

If you receive a positive COVID test result over the half-term period or over the weekend for your child or a member of your household, please email the school giving details.  The mobile number is 07395 161339 (this phone will only be checked daily at half term and at weekends). The Importance of hygiene

Personal hygiene is the most important way we can tackle COVID-19, especially washing hands more; and the catch it, bin it, kill it strategy for those with coughs and sneezes.

How to wash your hands properly

Wash your hands more often for 20 seconds with soap and hot water.

Teach young children how to wash their hands with the NHS handwashing song:

Public Health England recommends that in addition to handwashing before eating, and after coughing and sneezing, everyone should also wash hands after using toilets and travelling on public transport.
